Although he is criticised for constant generalisations and placing emphasis on the works of the philosophers whom he himself admired most, this is perhaps the side effect of a philosopher summarising the philosophy of others- there are bound to be biases. Having said this, he remains beautifully succinct and even humourous at times, given the sheer amount of information, not to mention hundreds of years’ worth of philosophy that he covers in surprisingly few pages.
